SENATE President Francis “Chiz” Escudero hailed workers for their achievement and recognized their valuable contributions to our society as the nation commemorates Labor Day on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
Escudero described Filipino workers as the true pillars of the nation’s economy.
“Ang Labor Day ay isang mahalagang pagkakataon upang bigyang-pugay ang ating mga manggagawa—ang tunay na haligi ng ating ekonomiya,” Escudero said.
The Senate leader emphasized that through the workers’ hard work, dedication, and tireless efforts, they sustain the industries, businesses, and services that keep the country alive and provide livelihoods for its people.
“Sa kanilang sipag, dedikasyon, at walang sawang pagsisikap, naitataguyod ang mga industriya, negosyo, at serbisyo na nagbibigay-buhay sa ating bansa at kabuhayan sa mga mamamayan,” the Senate leader said.
According to Escudero, at present, the total labor force of the Philippines exceeds 50 million people.
He said the labor force comes from various sectors such as agriculture, construction, transportation, and industry, and serve as the driving force of our economy.
“Ngayong araw, ating ipagdiwang ang tagumpay at sama-sama nating kilalanin ang kanilang mahalagang ambag sa ating lipunan. Marami pong salamat sa inyong sakripisyo at pagsusumikap. Mabuhay ang manggagawang Pilipino,” said Escudero
SENATOR TO CONTINUE FIGHTING FOR P100 DAILY MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE
Meanwhile, to honor the Pinoy workers, Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri vowed to continue fighting for the P100 daily minimum wage hike.
“Today, we celebrate the strength, sacrifice, and perseverance of the Filipino worker — the true foundation of our nation’s growth and success. I reaffirm my full commitment to push for a daily minimum wage increase: whether it’s the P100 hike already approved by the Senate, the proposed P200 increase in the House of Representatives, or any reasonable amount in between that brings real relief to our workers.,” Zubiri said.
Zubiri said amid the rising cost of basic goods and services, wage increase is no longer a matter of choice but of justice.
He added that the real progress must be felt at the dining table, in the classrooms where workers send their children, and in the homes they struggle to build.
“Filipino workers have waited long enough. They deserve not just praise, but policies that uplift them, protect their rights, and honor their sacrifices, Zubiri added.
Nice post. I learn something new and challenging on websites I stumbleupon every day.
