ALLEGED drug lord Kerwin Espinosa on Tuesday was proclaimed by the Board of Canvassers as mayor of Albuera, Leyte.
Based on 71.79% of election returns processed, Espinosa secured a total of 10,939 votes.
Espinosa, son of slain Albuera mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., defeated his rivals Vince Rama, who got 7,081 votes, and incumbent Mayor Sixto dela Victoria, who received 2,761 votes.
Kerwin’s sister, RR Espinosa, was proclaimed vice mayor of Albuera.
In a television interview, Kerwin said he will prioritize the peace and order and the problem on illegal drugs in Albuera.
In 2016, detained former President Rodrigo Duterte accused Kerwin and his father of involvement in the illegal drug trade in Eastern Visayas. This after a police raid near the Albuera home yielded P11 million worth of shabu.
