CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – An alleged leader of a notorious crime group involved in drug trafficking and carnapping on Wednesday was arrested in a joint police operation in Tarlac.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., arrested was alias “Azan,” a “high-value individual” (HVI) and alleged leader of the “Salazar Criminal Gang@ involved in illegal drugs and carnapping in Tarlac.
The suspect was arrested in Brgy. Buenlag, Gerona town by joint elements of the Gerona police, Provincial Intelligence Unit-Tarlac, Provincial Highway Patrol Team Tarlac, Regional Special Operations Group 3-Regional Intelliegence Division, 21st Special Action Company, 2nd Special Action Battalion, Provincial Intelligence Team Tarlac and the Regional Intelligence Unit 3.
Alias “Azan” was nabbed based on a warrant for carnapping issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 63, Tarlac City.
Peñones lauded the successful operation, stressing its alignment with the directives of acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
“The arrest of this ’high-value individual’ demonstrates our commitment to protecting our communities from criminal syndicates. In line with the 9-point program of acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., particularly on crime prevention and effective investigation, I commend the joint efforts of our operating units for their precise execution of this mission,” the Central Luzon top cop said.
