OPERATIVES arrested a notorious gunrunner in a buy-bust operation in Gerona, Tarlac.
A report to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit 3 (RFU3) chief Col. Grant Gollod identified the arrested suspect as alias “Lan,” 46, a resident of Bgy. Pada-Pada, Gerona, Tarlac.
Joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Tarlac Provincial Field Unit (PFU), together with the Provincial Intelligence Team (PIT) Tarlac–RIU3, and the Gerona police arrested the suspect under “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” drive.
According to Tarlac Provincial Field Unit (PFU) head Maj. Arvin Hosmillo, the suspect was involved in the illegal sale and possession of unlicensed firearms in the province.
Confiscated from the suspect were one cal. .38 revolver, a .357 revolver, four live ammunition for cal. .38 gun, three live ammunition for cal. .357 gun, and the marked and boodle money.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had a previous record of arrest in 2023 for alarm and scandal and direct assault.
Charges for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act were filed against the arrested suspect.
Gollod said the successful operation underscores CIDG’s unwavering commitment to curb the proliferation of loose firearms and ensure public safety in the province.
