FOLLOWING a directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure the safety of commuters and motorists, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has intensified its campaign against unlicensed or colorum vehicles while strengthening traffic enforcement, terminal inspections, and checkpoint operations.
“Ligtas na mga lansangan, patuloy na isinusulong ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Puspusan ang operasyon ng Land Transportation Office upang masiguro ang panatag na paglalakbay ng mga motorista sa bansa,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a Palace press briefing on Thursday.
According to Castro, the LTO continues to address the operation of unlicensed vehicles as part of its anti-colorum efforts, resulting in hundreds of apprehensions and impoundments over a three-day period.
Aside from the anti-colorum drive, Castro said the LTO has formally deployed K-9 units to enhance and improve inspections at transport terminals and checkpoints.
A Mobile Command Center (MCC) has also been launched to ensure continuous traffic monitoring and strengthen road safety enforcement. The MCC is equipped with real-time traffic monitoring screens, license plate recognition, and vehicle verification systems to determine whether vehicles are properly registered, stolen, or illegally modified.
