THE acting manager of Puerto Princesa International Airport was shot dead while on her way to church on February 18, Ash Wednesday.
Slain was Joanna Jonson-Infante.
The victim was walking on Bayview Road in Bgy. San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City when a man suddenly appeared from behind and shot her repeatedly at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The gunman fled after the killing.
Infante was rushed to the nearest hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
Police have formed a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to investigate the killing and fast-track the arrest of the suspect.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) condemned the murder of Infante and called on the authorities to conduct a thorough and swift probe to hold those behind the crime accountable.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her loved ones during this critical time. We trust that law enforcement authorities will pursue this case with urgency and ensure that justice is served,” CAAP Director Raul del Rosario said.
The CAAP said it is closely coordinating with local law enforcement agencies and stands ready to extend full cooperation in support of the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, lawmen urged people with information about the incident to immediately contact the Puerto Princesa Police Station 1 at 09985985903 or the Puerto Princesa City Police Office at 09778557732.
