THE total number of students enrolled for the 2023-2024 school year is almost P28 million.
This is based on the latest data from the Learner Information System (LIS) for SY 2023-2024 of the Department of Education (DepEd).
As of todate, the LIS has recorded 28,035,042 total number of students who registered for the new school year.
This number includes students enrolled in public and private schools, as well as in state universities and colleges (SUCs) and local universities and colleges (LUCs).
According to DepEd, of the number, the most registered in Region IV-A (Calabarzon) which reached 3,913,016.
It is followed by Region III (Central Luzon) with 2,956,658 and National Capital Region (NCR) with 2,779,389.
Meanwhile, the Alternative Learning System (ALS) has recorded 330,578 enrollees.
The DepEd said although the class opened last August 29, they will continue to accept late enrollees until the end of September.
DepEd is confident that they will reach the target of more than 28 million enrollees by the said period.
According to DepEd, the total number of enrollees for SY 2023-2024 will only be announced once the ongoing encoding period closes on October 30.
