SHEILA Guo on Tuesday confirmed to senators that she, her sister, dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, and brother Wesley had fled the country by sea.
“Sumakay po kami ng boat sa dagat,” Sheila told the senators during the Senate hearing of the Committees on Justice and Human Rights; Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality; and Public Services.
She said they were fetched from their farm in Bamban, Tarlac by a van just after dinner around 7:08 p.m. before arriving at a port to board a small white boat around midnight.
Shiela further recalled that from a white boat, they transferred to a bigger vessel, then to a smaller boat that brought them to Sabah, Malaysia.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said the Guo siblings fled the country without using any public port or they could have monitored their movement.
“’Yung sinasabi niya na bumiyahe sila ng 4-6 hours via bangka para papuntang Malaysia. Ang teyorya po namin diyan ay sumakay sila ng bangka, speedboat sa bandang Bongao, Tawi-Tawi,” NBI Director Jaime Santiago said, noting that there is a public port in the area.
“Pero dahil walang marka ang kanyang passport ng labas niya sa Pilipinas, ang theory po namin ay gumamit talaga ng back door,” he added.
Shiela stated that at first, she was clueless and thought the three of them would only be going on a trip since Alice only asked her to accompany her somewhere because she is sad.
The sister said she had no choice when she found out that they were leaving the country and they were already at sea.
During the Senate hearing, Sheila told the senators that she and Alice are not biological sisters and that she was born in China.
Meanwhile, Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco said Alice is in Jakarta now and they have now asked the Indonesian authorities to deport her.
