TWO died in a four-vehicle smash up on MacArthur Highway in Bgy. Telabastagan, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
The fatalities were identified as motorcycle rider Raywell Macalino, 40, and backrider Ronnie Lacson, 62, both of Bgy. San Jose, Magalang, Pampanga.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Pampanga police said a Honda City car being driven by Ray Marck Rivera, 29, of San Fernando, Pampanga was traversing the highway ahead of an ambulance driven by Agapito Chaneco, 45, of Angeles City when upon reaching Bgy. Telabastagan, a white Hyundai Starex van suddenly emerged from a gas station.
The motorbike being driven by Macalino suddenly swerved to avoid collision but hit the car then rammed into the ambulance.
Because of the impact, the motorcycle driver and the backrider sustained severe injuries. They were rushed by members of the San Fernando Rescue Unit to the Jose B. Lingad Hospital, where the duo were declared dead upon arrival.
The drivers of the car, the ambulance and the van are now under the custody of the San Fernando City police.
