A RETIRED US Marine fell prey to four members of the “laglag-barya” gang in Subic, Zambales.
A report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo by the Zambales police identified the victim as retired US Marine Willie Canonizado, 69, a resident of of Bgy. Rosite, San Felipe, Zambales.
Canonizado told police that he was looking for a parking space at Waltermart Subic in Bgy. Mangan-Vaca, Subic, Zambales when one of the suspects called his attention, pointing to the ground that he dropped his coins on the left rear portion of his vehicle.
The victim alighted from his vehicle to take a look, and the other suspects took the opportunity to cart away Canonizado’s bag containing $1,000 cash, P80,000 cash, assorted cheque books and ID’s.
The suspects escaped in their get-away vehicles described as a plateless white Toyota Fortuner and a silver Toyota Innova.
The Subic police immediately launched “Oplan Kandado” and coordinated with other law enforcers for possible identification and arrest of the suspects.
