CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A woman and her two cohorts on Friday were arrested by the police for allegedly kidnapping her own son and demanding a P3-million ransom from the boy’s father in Bulacan.
Arrested were “Elmarie,” the mother of the victim who is a Grade 7 student, and her cohorts “Lara” and “Elmer,” both of Malolos, Bulacan.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Bulacan police said on April 4, the businessman father of the victim informed the Hagonoy police that his 13-year-old son left their house around 3 p.m. of the same day to visit a classmate.
The teenager failed to return home.
Later that evening, the father received a phone call from an unknown person demanding a P3 million ransom for his son’s release.
The Provincial Intelligence Unit Bulacan, along with the Anti-Kidnapping Group – Luzon Field Unit and the Hagonoy police immediately launched an operation to rescue the student.
The suspects were arrested during the handover of the ransom while the victim was picked up by the family driver at a fastfood chain in Plaridel, Bulacan.
Authorities recovered the P550,000 ransom money and seized a black SUV with plate number NEA 5728 from the three suspects.
An investigation showed that the victim was coerced by his mother and her cohorts to stage a kidnapping as part of a revenge scheme against the minor’s father.
Hidalgo lauded his men for their dedication and exceptional teamwork, underscoring the critical role of collaboration among law enforcement agencies in combatting criminality and maintaining law and order in the region.
