TWO churchgoers were injured when a grenade thrown inside a Catholic church on Sunday exploded in Cotabato City, Maguindanao.
The victims were identified as Maribel Abis, 46, and Aniceta Tobil, a senior citizen.
The attack occured at the Sto. Nino Chapel in Bgy. Rosary Heights 3, Cotabato City around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Barangay chairman Kagui Omar Pasawilan told probers that one of his village watchmen saw two men on a motorcycle hurled the grenade before fleeing.
Cotabato City Mayor Bruce Matabalao condemned the attack.
He said the city government would reward anyone who could provide information about the perpetrators.
The mayor said the attack is a disrespect to the Roman Catholic Church and its believers.
“Let’s all fight violence and terrorism. The attack is an outright disrespect to the Roman Catholic Church and its believers,” Matabalao, in a statement said.
