EIGHT detainees on Sunday bolted the lock up cell in San Jose del Monte City Police Station in Bulacan.
A report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., identified the escapees as Richard Torillos, 46; Glenmir Ian Aguilar, 42; Arturo Conde, 40; Jeffrey Santos, 38; Jorency Revise, 29; Edcel Briones, 29; Aaron Capa, 26; and Jose Albert Rojas, 24.
The escapees are facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, robbery and arson.
Torillos, meanwhile, is also facing another case for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.
The inmates made the daring escape by sawing off the iron grills of the jail’s toilet around 3 a.m. Sunday.
Duty guards and officers of the San Jose del Monte City Police Station are being investigated for possible negligence, a report from the Bulacan Police Provincial Office headed by Col. Relly B. Arnedo said.
As of yesterday morning, four of the jailbirds have been recaptured by the local police.
An initial investigation showed that one of the jail companions of the eight discovered the incident when he woke up and immediately alerted the duty officer.
A manhunt operation is underway to arrest the other escapees.
