UNDERCOVER policemen on Friday arrested a 38-year-old female cashier for stealing P1,000 during a covert operation in a Samgyupsal restaurant in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija.
Town police chief Lt. Col. Erwin V. Ferry said the operation was prompted by a complaint from Jessica Velasco, 31, owner of Weena Samgyupsal House, who suspected that her cashier was stealing money from the daily sales of her business.
The arrested woman, single, of Corpuz St., Bgy. District 6, was nabbed after an undercover cop pretended to be a customer and bought Korean goods at the restaurant.
The cop gave the suspect P15,000 in marked money as payment. The suspect put the money in the cash box but hid a P1,000 bill inside the plastic cover of her mobile phone.
Police arrested the female cashier when the P1,000 marked money was found in her possession.
Theft charges are being readied for filing in court against the resto cashier.
