CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga –A month-long implementation of “Oplan: Katok” in Central Luzon from August 1 to 31 netted a total of 91 loose firearms.
According to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr., “Oplan: Katok” is a nationwide initiative of the Philippine National Police, wherein authorities conduct house-to-house visits to remind firearm holders to renew their gun licenses or voluntarily turnover unregistered firearms to the custody of the police for safekeeping.
Hidalgo said the intensified campaign led to the collection of various calibers of firearms, underscoring its effectiveness in promoting public safety.
“This serves as a reminder that owning a firearm is a serious responsibility, and every gun owner must comply with the law and remain accountable,”the Central Luzon top cop said.
