ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo on Sunday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator in the upcoming 2025 national and local elections.
According to Tulfo, he will run under the administration party coalition Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas
He said if given a seat in the Senate, he would focus on the welfare of the middle class.
“It’s time that we also look at sa mga kababayan natin na hindi masyadong napapansin, ‘yung nasa middle class. Siguro yung sinisigaw nila na higher wages, more benefits, and I would also like to introduce, if there is a chance, ‘yung retirement benefits ‘yung mga nagtatrabaho sa private sector,” he said.
Tulfo thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for inviting him to join the administration’s 12-man senatorial slate.
The former broadcaster and reporter was appointed secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Ben Tulfo, Erwin’s brother, also filed his COC for senator.
Their other brother is incumbent Sen. Raffy Tulfo.
The Tulfos are known for being pro-poor.
Last Friday, Rep. Erwin Tulfo officially joined the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).
House Speaker Romualdez described Tulfo as a tremendous asset to both their party and the nation, embodying not only seasoned public service but also courage and integrity.
