A RICE trader on Thursday fell prey to holdup men in Nueva Ecija.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, the Nueva Ecija police identified the victim as Jerico Fernando, 47, a rice trader residing in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija.
The victim was supervising his workers who were sun drying rice grains on the shoulder portion of the Gapan-Cabiao Bypass Road Bridge in Bgy. Tabon, San Isidro, Nueva Ecija when three men wearing bonnets, jackets and bull caps on two black motorcycles pulled over.
The suspects declared a holdup.
Fernando tried to run towards his motorcycle but was prevented by the suspects, who divested him of his gold necklace and P20,000 cash from his pocket.
One of the suspects took the victim’s motorcycle key, forcibly opened the compartment and took a bag containing P740,000 cash before fleeing towards Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.
The Nueva Ecija police are conducting a follow-up operation to track down suspects.
