A POLICE officer and two drug suspects, including a woman, on Sunday were injured while some P5.4 million worth of shabu was seized in an anti-narcotics operation that turned into a shootout in Meycauayan City, Bulacan.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, the Bulacan police said the injured were Capt. Jocel Calvario and suspects Danrey Santos, 33, and Analyn Apostol, both residents of Bgy. Tibag, Baliuag, Bulacan.
Prior to the gunfight, members of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Meycauayan police launched an anti-illegal drugs operation on Onyx St., Bgy. Pandayan Meycauayan City, Bulacan at 12:05 a.m. Sunday.
One of the suspects who sensed the presence of lawmen, immediately fired shots at the intel operatives. An exchange of fire ensued.
A bullet hit the police officer on the leg. He was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The suspects, who also sustained injuries, were taken to the hospital under heavy guard.
Police said Santos and Apostol were members of a syndicate involved in drug peddling in Bulacan.
Seized during the operation was at least P5.4 million worth of shabu.
A case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being readied for filing in court against Santos and Apostol.
