SEVEN members of a family, mostly minors, were trapped to death in a landslide triggered by Super Typhoon Pepito in Bgy. Labang, Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya.
The Police Regional Office 2 identified the fatalities as Oscar Tindaan, 30; Angel Calanhi, 18; Balagan Calanhi, 16; Niko Tindaan, 14; Maxcel Calanhi, 13; Jaymar Liwan, 12, and Janna Faith Calanhi, 8.
The victims were sleeping in the house of barangay kagawad Selo Calanhi when the landslide struck at 11 p.m. Sunday at Sitio Hukyong in Bgy. Labang, Ambaguio municipality.
The village is an isolated place with no cellphone signal and is three hours away from the municipal proper.
Christian Sevilla of the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the relatives of the fatalities will receive financial aid.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA) said “Pepito” left the Philippine Area of Responsibility Monday noon.
