AUTHORITIES on Thursday arrested a former security guard of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) for selling a text blast machine in Pasay City.
The Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) said the 40-year-old suspect was caught in an entrapment operation.
Seized were a SMS blaster machine or International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) catcher, antenna, and a signal jammer worth P475,000.
According to ACG chief Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang , the device allows criminals to intercept calls and messages, track user locations, and launch phishing scams.
The arrested suspect is facing charges for misuse of device under the Cybercrime Prevention Act and violation of the Philippine Radio Control Law.
