AGENTS of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) arrested a man wanted for killing his wife and dismembering her body before dumping them in different locations to cover up his crime in 2011.
Nabbed was alias “Alberto,” a resident of Bgy. Butong in Cabuyao City.
The suspect was caught in his hiding place in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna by members of the CIDG Major Crimes Investigation Unit on the strength of a warrant for parricide issued by the Cabuyao City Regional Trial Court Branch 108 last March 11.
PNP-CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III said that that accused was tracked down in his hiding place in Sta. Rosa City on Friday last week following tips received by the CIDG-MCIU.
The official said that a daughter of the victim discovered that her father was behind the gruesome murder of her mother.
According to the girl, the brother of her father told her that her father confessed to killing and dismembering her mother before disposing the chopped body parts of the victim.
On May 21, 2024, the victim’s daughter reported the incident to the CIDG-MCIU.
An ensuing police investigation led to the discovery of the victim’s body parts.
According to Torre, officers from the CIDG-MCIU, a special CIDG unit in-charge of investigating major, heinous and sensational incidents and cases, discovered that the suspect was the last person seen with the victim before she mysteriously disappeared on May 17, 2011.
On August 22, 2024, a DNA test was conducted by the PNP Forensic Group on the recovered remains upon a request from the CIDG-MCIU. The DNA analysis confirmed that the remains belonged to the missing woman.
The PNP-CIDG director said that on January 27 this year, a criminal complaint for parricide was filed against the suspect before the National Prosecution Service.
Last March 11, the Cabuyao RTC Branch 108 issued a warrant of arrest against the accused.
Torre said that the successful investigation and operation underscore the CIDG’s commitment in conducting a thorough investigation, filing of airtight case, and putting criminals behind bars, with the end view of helping the victims and the victims’ family attain the justice they deserved.
