VICO Sotto on Tuesday was officially proclaimed as the mayor of Pasig City, his third consecutive and last term.
Sotto, who ran as independent, dominated in the mayoral race despite the invented charges and allegations hurled against him.
He defeated by a landslide vote his rivals Sara Discaya, Cory Palma, and Eagle Ayaon.
Sotto got 352,392 votes while Discaya received only 29,591 votes, Palma with 308, and Ayaon with 296 votes.
Pasig has 463,885 registered voters.
Sotto’s party, “Giting ng Pasig,” also had a commanding lead in the local elections, with Dodot Jaworski winning the vice mayoral race.
He thanked the Pasigueños for the trust and support and for the new mandate.
Sotto vowed to institutionalize reforms and expand social service.
He said the next three years would not be enough to institutionalize all the needed reforms, but he is hoping that the good governance he started in 2019 will continue to bear fruit for Pasig and its people.
