FORMER mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has reclaimed the highest post in Manila in last Monday’s midterm elections.
He won against incumbent Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and party-list Rep. Sam Verzosa.
Moreno garnered an overwhelming 528,521 votes compared to Lacuna’s 190,286 and Verzosa’s 163,821.
Lacuna and Verzosa have conceded.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Lacuna thanked those who supported and trusted her.
“Buong kababaang loob nating tinatanggap ang kapasyahan ng higit na nakararami sa atin. Maraming salamat sa pagbibigay ninyo ng pagkakataon na ako ay maging kauna-unahang babaeng punong-lungsod sa Maynila,” she said in her video message on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Also in a social media post, Versoza said he fully accepts the decision of his fellow Manileños and thanked supporters who stood by him throughout his campaign.
“Ngayong gabi (Monday night), buong puso kong tinatanggap ang desisyon ng taumbayan. Bagamat hindi nangyari ang hinahangad nating resulta, ako po ay taus-pusong nagpapasalamat sa bawat isa sa inyo na naniwala, sumuporta, at lumaban para sa pagbabago,” the entrepreneur said.
According to Versoza, the battle he faced was no easy feat, acknowledging that running for office for the first time came with significant challenges.
“Ngunit sa bawat kaway, yakap, halik at tapik ninyo sa balikat ko sa kalsada, naramdaman ko ang Pagmamahal nyo at tunay na diwa ng serbisyo at malasakit,” he said.
Moreno, meanwhile, vowed to “make Manila great again” with the help of his constituents.
