TWO teenage brothers on Thursday drowned while crossing a river in Sta. Cruz, Zambales.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr., the Zambales police identified the victims as Bryan Ebuen, 19, and his brother Kenneth, 17, both residents of Bgy. Tubo-Tubo South, Sta. Cruz, Zambales.
The drowning occurred in Bayto River located in Purok 6, Bgy. Tubo-Tubo South, Sta. Cruz, Zambales.
An investigation showed a tricycle got stuck on the other side of the river. Kenneth helped the trike driver to cross the river but on his way back, he was suddenly swept away by a strong water current.
Bryan, who saw Kenneth submerging, attempted to rescue his younger brother. However, both were drowned.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Sta. Cruz was asked to help rescue the siblings.
The lifeless body of Bryan was later found while rescue operation is ongoing to locate the body of Kenneth.
