IN line with the instruction of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon to run after erring motorists, the Land Transportation Office (LTO), under the leadership of Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon issued a show cause order (SCO) against a company that owns the passenger bus which rammed several motor vehicles along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Wednesday.
LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the SCO also informed the Mersan Snow White Transport that the license of the driver involved was already preventively suspend for 90 days.
The investigation stemmed from the news about a passenger bus ramming eight motor vehicles, including motorcycles, along the northbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue.
The motor vehicles were damaged and as a result, at least 10 people were injured.
The bus company is facing a case of employing a reckless driver while the driver is charged with reckless driving and Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle, which has a penalty of revocation of driver’s license.
Both the bus company and the driver, according to Mendoza, were given the chance to explain through a notarized written explanation and deliberation during the hearing.
“Meanwhile, the public utility bus bearing plate no. ALA1878 will be placed under ALARM, preventing any and all transactions while under investigation,” the SCO signed by LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division chief Renante Melitante read.
Mendoza said they expect the bus company to facilitate the surrender of the driver’s license of its driver’s involved on or before the scheduled hearing on September 4.
