ABUCAY, Bataan — Authorities are conducting an in-depth investigation into the killing of a man whose body was tied to a mangrove tree beside a river in Bgy. Mabatang, this town.
The Bataan police reported to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr. that the victim’s body was placed inside a plastic bag and tied to a bakawan (mangrove) tree on a river at Sitio Paruba.
Village watchman Armando Valencia, a resident of the area, found the plastic bag with the victim inside.
Valencia reportedly retrieved the plastic bag containing the body and placed it in a styrofoam box on the river embankment before alerting authorities.
Responding members of the Abucay police immediately secured the area and coordinated with the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) for a forensic examination.
Probers are determining the identity of the victim and the circumstances behind the killing.
