ALIAGA, Nueva Ecija – Operatives on Monday arrested a barangay councilor after a search in his house resulted in the discovery of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Bgy. Betes, this town.
CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 chief Col. Grant Gollod said arrested was alias “Rico,” 55, a barangay councilor and a resident of Purok 4, Bgy. Betes.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Nueva Ecija Provincial Field Unit (CIDG NE PFU) said the operation was carried out under “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” in coordination with the CIDG’s CIACO and joined by personnel from the 21st Special Action Company of the PNP Special Action Battalion (2SAB).
Authorities implemented a search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 26 in Cabanatuan City, which resulted in the suspect’s arrest and the confiscation of a cal. .45 pistol, one magazine assembly for cal. .45 gun, five live rounds of cal. .45 ammunition and a black footsack.
Gollod said the suspect will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
