OPERATIVES of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday arrested 19 persons allegedly involved in illegal notary public activities in Quezon City.
The entrapment was launched following a complaint filed by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) against suspected illegal notary public allegedly operating within stalls along Congressional Avenue in Bgy. Bago Bantay, Quezon.
NBI director Jaime Santiago said complainants told them that the stalls were being used to perform notarial acts.
Undercover officers of the Special Task Force of the NBI conducted surveillance and confirmed the presence of illegal notarial activities in the area.
Nabbed while performing unauthorized notarization were Sherryl Bonifacio, Uldarico Francisco, Chirester Cancino, Lou Anna Acuna, Ellaine Lucena, Chester Adrian Layacan, Violeta Oraa, Jocelyn Concepcion, Thelma Concepcion, Ma. Cholina Torino, Elma Luod, Virginia Concepcion, Eduardo Concepcion, Violeta Fronda, Val Justine Laxamana, Chona Concepcion, Marites Longcop, Christopher Cancino and Marie Antonette Miranda.
The arrested suspects were presented for inquest proceedings before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Santiago commended the operatives of the NBI-STF for their swift action on the complaint.
